A 4,500sqm public reserve located within the heary of Wurundjeri Country. A landscape repair project in collaboration with Baracco + Wright, delivered with Tract.

The site was formerly a disused infrastructure reserve within the emerging 51-hectare New Epping quarry regeneration. Our design is based on research into Victoria's volcanic plains grasslands — less than 2% of which remains intact. The approach was to create spaces for all living things to benefit from restoration of habitat, and reduced urban heat.

Water shapes the site. Existing underground stormwater infrastructure is engaged with directly, through water-sensitive principles employed in managing overland flow, and connecting the park to the adjacent swale and Edgar's Creek.

The reserve sits at the gateway to the New Epping health precinct and future mixed-use commercial, community and residential precinct, offering space to gather, play, rest and find respite on hot days — a process of repairing the landscape rather its former self as an overlooked thoroughfare.

This park forms a bookend to a broader regeneration of the Edgar's Creek corridor undertaken by Tract, and will be handed over to the City of Whittlesea as a piece of public infrastructure once established.
